The International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism
A comprehensive resource on international terrorism and counter-terrorism
featuring an extensive database on terrorist organizations and terror attacks,
an interactive forum, daily & weekly news updates on issues related
to terrorism, and numerous academic articles by internationally known researchers
into the motivations and sources of international terrorism.
The International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) was founded
in 1996 at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. It is unique
among academic institutions in focusing solely on the strategic aspects
of terrorism and counter-terrorism. Terrorism is a weapon directed specifically
at a civilian population - a population whose fears and anxieties have
a significant impact on the political, economic, and social decisions of
its government. Therefore, a major element in the fight against terrorism
must be the education of the population in order to prevent its being easily
manipulated by terrorists.
ICT is engaged in research and analysis of terror in all its aspects.
The Institute integrates academic knowledge of terrorism - it's aims and
motivations - with the practical experience of experts in the fields of
counter-terrorism. The emphasis is on providing practical recommendations
for decision-makers and improving the ability of the population to cope
with the psychological damage of terrorism.
